HAVE YOUR SAY IN WEDDIN’S TOURISM FUTURE

Weddin Shire Council Mayor, Cr Paul Best, is encouraging all residents to take part in the upcoming Destination Management Plan (DMP) community consultation sessions being held across the Shire from 22 September 2025.

A DMP is a strategic document that sets out a community’s shared vision and priorities for developing, promoting, and managing tourism. For councils, it acts as a roadmap — guiding decisions, projects, and investment so tourism grows in a way that benefits the local economy and enhances the visitor experience. It is also important that it aligns with the Destination Central West and Destination NSW DMP’s.

“Tourism plays a vital role for our local economy, and it’s important that the community has a strong voice in shaping its future,” Mayor Best said.

Council has engaged tourism specialist Jenny Rand to review and update the current plan, which was first developed in 2020.

Mayor Best said the sessions were a valuable opportunity for people to share their ideas, suggestions and insights.

“This is your chance to contribute to how we present and promote Weddin, how we attract visitors, and how we can make our town and villages even more enjoyable places to live and visit. Whether you’re a business owner, a community group member, or simply someone with ideas about our Shires future, we want to hear from you.”

Jenny will be conducting consultation sessions in each of the villages, as well as a daytime and evening session in Grenfell.

Quandialla: Tuesday 23 September 2025 from 1:00pm - Quandialla Memorial Hall
