Mayor Paul Best has announced “The General Manager, Ms Noreen Vu has tendered her resignation with Weddin Shire Council. I congratulate Ms Vu on her appointment as the new Chief Executive Officer of Snowy Monaro Regional Council”.

Ms Vu will finish in her role as General Manager with Weddin Shire Council on 27 June 2025.

Ms Vu commenced her role as General Manager in July 2022 and was able to deliver the project reset of our Main Street beautification and renewal after a difficult construction period.

Ms Vu has been an advocate on pushing for changes to road funding which has seen positive engagement with relevant agencies, including our Council being one of the first to receive the tripartite funding for natural disaster declarations.

Ms Vu has introduced several engagement initiatives which saw a strong engagement in consultation in our town and villages for our community strategic plan. The Council Mobile Hubs to our villages and the Drop in for a Chat with the GM exemplified her grassroots engagement.

Under Ms Vu’s leadership, she has worked closely with the staff to develop and implement new policies and processes aimed at accountability, improving productivity and operational efficiency.

Weddin Shire Council is a finalist in the upcoming LG Professionals NSW awards for the ‘People, Workplace, Wellbeing’ for the safety initiative ‘Safety Talk’ introduced under Ms Vu’s stewardship.

We have seen two successful ‘Light Up the Night’ events that have focused on community cohesion and a magical celebration of local and internation acts.
