Jan Parlett

Cr Parlett was initially elected to Council in 2012. Over the last ten years Cr Parlett has continued to focus on service provision and community issues.  Cr Parlett chose to move to Grenfell twenty years ago and is passionate about maintaining Grenfell’s’ unique identity, whilst we consciously pursue progressive change for improved amenities and population growth. Cr Parlett wants to see the Henry Lawson Festival continue as part of the community cultural legacy. She enjoys renovating heritage buildings and is keen to see the Main St revived as a centre for visitation.  With her own business marketed as a successful destination experience, Jan knows the potential for tourism our Shire could create with intentional planning and investment. She sees also the potential for our Shire to excel in aged care provision, and is focussed on upgrading the MPS, maintaining and increasing health services to cater for new residents and growing needs into the future. Having been part of the first Art Gallery committee involved in the setting up of the Gallery, she knows we have a diversity of talent in the Shire and the devotion to the Arts this community constantly maintains. Instrumental in the establishment of the Grenfell Food Hall, Jan continues to support this vital service, and appreciates the ongoing contribution volunteers make to our community. 

Family comes first for Cr Parlett, who spends as much time as possible with her grandchildren. Creative in nature, Jan has a past in teaching the disadvantaged, specialising in Art, and then running her own manufacturing and design business before her now retail and restoration pursuits. Jan is at home in the garden, with a paint brush, decorating a Christmas tree and being your voice as a Councillor.
