MAIN STREET
The Main and Forbes Streets Roundabout is now complete. The concrete will now need to cure before we can traffic on it. The area still remains closed.
During the construction phase, we found an opportunity to further excavate the approaches at the eastern end (in front of the Grenfell Motel) and western end (in front of the old Commonwealth Bank building/Royal Hotel/Farm and Fable/Natural Home). This was done in consultation with our supportive local business owners.
Our decision was to undertake the works now on the road approaches, rather than coming back with partial road closures at a later date. In making this decision, this will now mean the section at the roundabout, including the approaches will be closed for more than three weeks. The road approaches will need time to cure. We anticipate to reopen the section from 25 January 2023. The lean mix concrete pour will begin in front of the Grenfell Motel section tomorrow (12 January 2023). There will be a gap between pavement and the kerb and guttering to allow us to come back with asphalt concrete (AC) at a later date.
