BREASTSCREEN VAN VISIT TO GRENFELL

Residents are hereby advised that the mobile BreastScreen NSW van will be stationed in front of Vaughn Park on Melyra Street, Grenfell from 23 March 2021 until 15 April 2021 and women of the Weddin Shire are encouraged to book a free mammogram.

Western NSW Local Health District advises that breast screening every two years is incredibly important for women aged 50 – 74 for the following reasons: -

  • breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in NSW
  • 1 in 7 women in NSW will be diagnosed with breast cancer by age 85
  • 9 out of 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer do not have a family history
  • a mammogram can pick up cancers that cannot be seen or felt
  • a mammogram every two years takes just 20 minutes and it could save your life

CHEMICAL CARD TRAINING

Residents are advised that RuralBiz Training are offering fully subsidised Chemical Card training for participants living or working in NSW.

Upcoming face-to-face courses include: -

  • Monday 29 March in Trundle
  • Tuesday 13 April in Griffith
  • Tuesday 27 April in West Wyalong
  • Tuesday 4 May in Temora

The training covers two nationally accredited units:

   AHCCHM307 Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases

   AHCCHM304 Transport and store chemicals

NATURAL DISASTER DECLARATION

Residents are advised that a Natural Disaster Declaration is active in the Weddin Shire for the storm experienced on 28 November 2020. As such, financial assistance is available for those who suffered damage during the storm in the form of a low interest loan up to $130,000 at 0.45% p.a. interest.

WEDDIN LANDCARE SMALL ENVIRONMENTAL GRANTS 2021

Weddin Landcare have developed a special round of their Small Environmental Grants which will focus on addressing and preventing wind and water erosion in 2021 in order to assist land managers be better prepared for the next drought.

Individuals, farming businesses and not-for-profit community groups who manage land within the Weddin Landcare District are encouraged to apply for funding that will cover 50% of the total cost of a project, to a maximum of $4,000. Possible projects may include: -

  • Groundcover establishment/management
  • establishment or enhancement of windbreaks
  • establishment of a drought lot
  • streambank or head cut protection/stabilisation
  • approved grazing or holistic management training

WEDDIN LANDCARE FILM SCREENING

Weddin Landcare is inviting residents to a special screening of the film “2040” in the Grenfell Cinema on Friday 26 March 2021 with doors opening at 6:00pm.

“This hybrid feature documentary looks to the future but is vitally important now; a must-see for all farmers and community members.”

This is a free event with light supper supplied. The film will start at 7:00pm followed by an open discussion.

DRAFT POLICY AND PROCEDURES FOR CCTV IN PUBLIC PLACES

Notice is hereby given of Council’s intention to adopt its Policy and Procedures for Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) in Public Places.

The draft Policy and Procedures are currently on display for comment and can be viewed on Council's Public Exhibition webpage.

Written submissions are invited and will be received by the undersigned up until 4:00pm on Friday, 2 April 2021.


DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL: DA 16/2021

Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979

Council has received an Application for a Shed (20m x 10m) over LOT: 6 DP: 1159150 25 Grimshaw Lane GRENFELL NSW 2810.

Inspection:

The application DA 16/2021 for Shed may be viewed between the hours of 9:00am - 4:00pm from 19 March 2021 to 7 April 2021 at Council’s Administration Office, Camp Street, Grenfell.

Submissions:

Any person may make a submission in writing to the Consent Authority within the advertised period. Submissions objecting to the development are required to specify the grounds for objection.

Written submissions are to be received at Council by 4:00pm Wednesday 7 April 2021.
