Emu Creek Floodplain Study - Published: 02 Jul 2008

A comprehensive floodplain risk management plan (FRMP) is to be prepared for Emu Creek and its tributary streams as part of a Government program to mitigate the impacts of major floods and reduce the hazards in the floodplain at Grenfell. An important first step in the process of preparing an FRMP is the undertaking of a flood study for the study area. The flood study is the formal starting process of defining management measures for flood liable land and represents a detailed technical investigation of flood behaviour.

Grenfell Sewer Contributions Plan - Published: 17 Dec 2008
This document contains the Council procedures for administration, assessment and settlement of contributions for sewerage infrastructure in Weddin, as well as a schedule of the specific rates for contribution.

The Plan also contains strategies relating to the provision of public infrastructure and the methodology for determining the contribution rates.

Local Companion Animals Management Plan - Published: 20 Jan 2009
The development and implementation of a comprehensive and effective Local Companion Animal Management Plan is essential to enable Weddin Shire Council to provide a balanced and common sense approach to the emotive issue of animal management within the Shire.

The new legislative reform provides for additional enforcement while acknowledging that community education and responsible pet ownership is of paramount importance and must be pursued in partnership with the legislation strategies.

This Plan identifies the advantages, disadvantages and the perceived community concerns relating to pet ownership and provides a series of recommendations directed towards a proactive approach with deliverable outcomes in relation to the management of companion animals.

While this Plan has been prepared with due consideration of national data and trends, it is designed to provide a strategic framework and a balanced management system specific to the Weddin Shire which will serve the needs of both pet-owners and non-pet owners alike more ..

Policy for Enforcement - Published: 17 Dec 2008
The Enforcement Policy reflects the need for a transparent decision making process of Council authorised officers to be carried out in an efficient, fair and consistent manner having regard to all the circumstances. The inclusion of Appendices A and B at the rear of the policy can be interpreted as a guide to indicate the relative level of seriousness of some offences and therefore, from a consistency viewpoint, to determine whether or not the Council may issue a warning prior to some level of formal action. more ..

Policy for Fencing - General - Published: 12 Oct 2009
To encourage the use of materials and design in fencing that will improve the amenity and appearance of the area for the benefit of the community. The type of material used and the design of the fence shall take into account visual impact and the health and safety of all persons using public lands.

The replacement of existing fences or the erection of new fences shall comply with this policy.

This Policy does not apply to land defined in the Weddin Shire Heritage Conservation Area Fencing Policy.

Policy for Footpath, Restaurants and Street Trading - Published: 12 Oct 2009
  1. To promote the regulated use of public assets with the aim of promoting and consolidating the viability of existing commercial areas within the Shire.
  2. To inject vitality, amenity and ambience into the street environment through the expansion of permitted activities on public land.
  3. To protect existing levels of public amenity and safety from the adverse impact of street trading activities by adequately addressing potential risk management issues.
  4. To maintain equity in the regulation of restricted public land usage by promoting both fairness and certainty to street traders and existing business house owners within the Shire.
  5. Protect the financial interest of ratepayers by charging a reasonable fee to administer the commercial use of public assets.

Policy for Keeping of Animals - Published: 12 Oct 2009
This policy seeks to inform the Weddin Shire Community of Council's regulatory powers concerning the keeping of animals in the Weddin Shire Council area.  The Orders Policy aims to:

            a)         Minimise the incidence of nuisance being caused to persons

            b)         Protect the welfare of companion, farm and other animals

            c)         Protect the welfare and habitat of wildlife; and

            d)         Minimise the disturbance of or damage to protected vegetation.

            e)         Safeguard the environment

It is well documented that the keeping of companion animals and / or pet animals is usually most beneficial to the well-being of people.  Nevertheless, on occasions, complaints are made to Council where animals of an inappropriate kind or number are being kept or where the animals and their accommodation is not being looked after properly.
